Mr. Gostelow holds a degree in geography from the University of Wales Aberystwyth, a Post Graduate Certificate in Education from Bristol, and has more recently completed his Master’s degree in Educational Leadership and Management from the University of Portsmouth.
Mark is an experienced geography teacher, having spent the last 15 years teaching in a variety of locations. Originally from the UK, he started his career in London, he then spent five years working in the United Arab Emirates, followed by a further five years in the culturally rich environment of Yangon, Myanmar. For the last two years Mark has been back in the Middle East serving as the Head of Sixth Form at an International School in Qatar.
His passion for geography extends beyond the classroom, he is a keen traveller, always seeking to explore and understand new cultures and landscapes. With a genuine love for the natural world, Mark likes to actively raise awareness about issues of sustainability, and hopes to inspire his pupils to become responsible global citizens.
Mark is dedicated to shaping the next generation of informed, compassionate, and environmentally conscious individuals, and it is this shared belief that drew him to Stonyhurst as the new Head of Humanities. Mark will be moving to Penang along with his wife – Karima, daughter – Thanakha, and the latest addition to his family who he expects to meet in July!
