Chermaine graduated with a BA (Hons) in Psychology from HELP University, Kuala Lumpur, before spending two years in Brisbane and Melbourne, where she provided pastoral support to both local and international students at esteemed universities. Her passion for serving the vulnerable then brought her back to Kuala Lumpur, where she worked in social and pastoral roles with refugees, young people, and the urban poor. Recognising the need for more specialised care, she went on to complete an MA in Professional Counselling at the University of Malaya and began her career supporting professional employees and graduate students.
Now a Licensed and Registered Counsellor with the Board of Counsellors Malaysia (KB10538, PA10137), Chermaine brings a strong person-centred approach to her role at Stonyhurst Penang. She strives to create a safe and supportive space where pupils feel free to be themselves, build confidence, and discover their strengths. She believes that affirming the dignity of young people enables them to grow in resilience and face life’s challenges with courage.
Outside of school, Chermaine enjoys the simple joys of island life in Penang — from coffee mornings to evening sunsets by the sea.
