We are delighted to inform you that Peter Brown has joined Stonyhurst as our new ‘Stonyhurst 225 Artist’ to help us celebrate our 225th Anniversary year of being based in Lancashire.
Whilst at Stonyhurst, Peter will be based across Stonyhurst College and Stonyhurst St Mary’s Hall accessing all the buildings and grounds in order to paint the College and Estate. During his residency Peter will be delighted to provide talks and presentations to pupils on his life as an artist in conjunction with the Art Department.
Peter will be resident for approximately two terms during which time he will complete a number of paintings of scenes from around Stonyhurst. These will subsequently be offered for sale at exhibitions at both Stonyhurst and in London over the Summer of 2020. Peter has generously agreed to donate 50% of the net sale costs of the paintings to Stonyhurst Development. The net proceeds from the sale of artworks will be directed to the Stonyhurst Foundation.
Peter is an impressionist painter, known popularly as “Pete the Street” and paints street scenes and city landscapes. He is president of the New English Art Club, an honorary member of the Royal Society of British Artists, a member of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters and the Pastel Society. Based in Bath, he was recently the solo exhibitor at Messums, London with his exhibition “East Anglia” his next exhibition will open on 30 November 2019 at Bath’s Victoria Art Gallery.
He comes to us highly recommended from Prior Park having completed a similar acclaimed commission as their Artist in Residence during 2018.
