The Stonyhurst Foundation Scholarship
The Stonyhurst Foundation Scholarship is a donor- and investment-funded award administered by the Scholarship Foundation, which operates independently of Stonyhurst International School Penang (Stonyhurst Penang) and provides the financial support for this programme.
This open, competitive scholarship considers academic merit as the primary criterion, followed by means testing for shortlisted candidates. The model seeks to uphold the highest academic standards while ensuring that access to a Stonyhurst education remains equitable and inclusive.
The scholarship is open to all applicants—including current Stonyhurst pupils, local Malaysian students, and international applicants. In keeping with the Foundation’s mission, priority is given to local pupils who demonstrate clear financial need. Successful applicants are awarded full or partial funding against their tuition fees based on means testing; this may also include additional financial support needed to complete their studies.
Full scholarship recipients will receive full payment from the Scholarship Foundation during their two-year Sixth Form term, which is expected to cover school fees, some subsidy towards boarding costs (if the recipient is currently based out of Penang) and related costs, including uniform, meals, residential and day trip fees, books and equipment, transport to/from the school and insurance (if applicable).
